The Journal of Architectural and Planning Research (JAPR) invites original, high-quality submissions for Volume 40, Issue 1, scheduled for publication in March 2026. JAPR is a peer-reviewed journal publishing rigorous research that advances knowledge in architecture, planning, environmental design, and related interdisciplinary fields. We welcome contributions that offer strong theoretical insight, robust methodology, and clear relevance to contemporary design and planning challenges.
JAPR welcomes manuscripts in (but not limited to) the following areas: architectural and design research (technology, environment–behavior studies, design theory and methods, architectural practice, post-occupancy evaluation, environmental evaluation, user participation, and information technologies for design professionals); urban and regional planning research (social, geographic, administrative, economic, and political factors shaping neighborhoods, cities, and regions, including work linked to public- and private-sector decision-making and policy); and architectural, interior, and urban design projects presented as scholarly studies (project documentation and analysis grounded in systematically collected information with clearly articulated objectives, methods, and outcomes). Interdisciplinary submissions that connect design and planning with sustainability, resilience, public health, digital transformation, heritage and conservation, housing, mobility, and inclusive design are especially encouraged.
JAPR accepts original research articles, review papers, case studies, methodological contributions, and evidence-based design/project reports. All submissions undergo an initial editorial screening followed by a double-blind peer-review process. Authors are encouraged to submit early to allow sufficient time for review and revisions ahead of the March 2026 publication schedule.
