Submission Checklist

1. General Manuscript Requirements

▢ The manuscript has been prepared using a word-processing program (e.g., Microsoft Word) and is between 2,000 and 6,000 words in length.
▢ The file is saved in .doc or .rtf format.
▢ The text is typewritten, double spaced, and formatted to print on 8.5″ × 11″ or A4 size paper.
▢ The paper is written in clear, jargon-free English, in the third person.

2. First and Second Pages

First page includes:
▢ A brief, descriptive title of the paper’s contents.
▢ The name(s), position(s), professional or academic affiliation(s), and email address(es) of all author(s).
▢ The full postal address of the corresponding author.
▢ A running title of no more than 45 characters.

Second page includes:
▢ The full title of the paper.
▢ An abstract of approximately 200 words that clearly states the paper’s contribution to the field and its practical architectural or planning implications.

3. Structure of the Paper

▢ The body of the paper is organized in a logical, coherent structure, typically including:

  • Introduction to the subject

  • Background or literature context

  • Discussion of procedure / methods

  • Results

  • Conclusions

  • Implications for practice and advancement of research

  • References

  • Acknowledgments (optional; any non-personal funding sources are identified here)

  • An autobiographical sketch of the author(s)

4. References and Citations

▢ The reference list is complete, alphabetically ordered, and has been checked for accuracy.
▢ Reference style follows Journal of Management and Planning Research (JMPR) guidelines:

  • In-text citations use author name and year.

  • For more than two authors, use the first author’s name followed by “et al.”

  • Papers by the same author(s) in the same year are distinguished by lowercase letters following the date (e.g., 2024a, 2024b).
    ▢ Each reference entry includes, in order where applicable:

  • Names of all contributing authors (last name, first initial)

  • Year of publication

  • Title of the article or chapter

  • Names of editors (for edited books only)

  • Title of the journal or book

  • Volume and issue numbers (journals only)

  • Location and name of the publishing company (books only)

  • Inclusive page numbers (for journal articles and chapters in edited books)
    ▢ Page numbers are provided in the text for all direct quotations.

5. Figures

▢ Figures conform to Journal of Management and Planning Research (JMPR) requirements:

  • Artwork is provided as camera-ready black-and-white copies (halftones) or original line drawings.

  • Photographs are black-and-white glossy prints.
    ▢ Each figure is supplied as a separate hard copy, one figure per page.
    ▢ All type and graphical elements are large enough to remain legible when reduced to the journal’s page size (approximately 5.25″ × 8.25″).
    ▢ Any non-table illustration is labeled as a figure, numbered in the order of appearance in the text (no other labels such as “matrix” or “photograph” are used).
    ▢ Each figure has a brief, clear caption.
    ▢ Every figure is explicitly cited in the text.

▢ Copyright and permissions:
Journal of Management and Planning Research (JMPR) cannot republish previously copyrighted materials or materials owned by others without written permission. If your article includes photographs, drawings, or figures owned by someone other than the author(s), you have obtained and can provide written permission to reproduce them in Journal of Management and Planning Research (JMPR).

If your paper is accepted for publication, you will receive instructions on where to send the hard copies of any figures.

6. Tables

▢ All tables are included either within the main manuscript file or in a separate Microsoft Word document.
▢ Tables have been checked to ensure they can be clearly reproduced at the journal’s page size (approximately 5.25″ × 8.25″).
▢ Each table includes a brief, descriptive caption.
▢ Every table is explicitly cited in the text.

7. Submission and Originality

Please note, however, that submission of hard copies may cause significant delays, and digital submission is strongly preferred.

▢ The work is original, has not been published previously, and is not under review by any other journal. Only such original submissions will be considered for publication in Journal of Management and Planning Research (JMPR).
